Excessive Sweating

WHAT IS EXCESSIVE SWEATING?

Excessive sweating – medically known as hyperhidrosis – occurs when the body produces more sweat than is necessary to regulate temperature.

It can affect specific areas (such as the underarms) or present as generalised, all-over sweating.

This condition often arises without any identifiable trigger and can occur regardless of temperature, stress, or activity level. Hyperhidrosis can develop at any age and may persist for years if left untreated.

WHAT CAUSES EXCESSIVE SWEATING?

There are two main types of hyperhidrosis: primary hyperhidrosis and secondary hyperhidrosis.

Primary hyperhidrosis is a chronic condition with no underlying medical cause, often affecting specific areas symmetrically (e.g. both underarms or both palms). With secondary hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating is usually caused by an underlying issue such as menopause, medication side effects, thyroid disorders, or other health conditions

Triggers can include:

  • Heat and humidity
  • Stress or anxiety
  • Hormonal changes
  • Certain foods or stimulants (like caffeine or alcohol)

UNDERSTANDING THE IMPACT OF HYPERHIDROSIS

Excessive sweating can be more than just inconvenient – it can affect your clothing choices, social comfort, professional confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Constant dampness or visible sweat patches may lead to self-consciousness, skin irritation, and a desire to avoid certain situations altogether.

OUR APPROACH AT BEAUCHAMP AESTHETICS

We offer a safe, non-surgical treatment option for managing localised excessive sweating. Your journey begins with a medical consultation to assess your symptoms, rule out underlying causes, and determine the most suitable approach.

Our hyperhidrosis treatment includes:

Sweat Reduction Injections

(containing a neurotoxic protein, commonly known as botulinum toxin) - injected into targeted areas such as the underarms to temporarily block the nerve signals that activate sweat glands. This significantly reduces sweating for several months at a time.

Treatment is quick, effective, and requires little to no downtime. Results typically last 4-6 months, with many patients returning for regular maintenance to stay sweat-free year-round.
